Bart is a seasoned international business lawyer acting as of-counsel within HEUSSEN. He specialises in company commercial law with a particular focus on China.
Bart is part of HEUSSEN ’s Chinese Desk and regularly travels to China for Chinese clients’ Dutch/EU business and Dutch clients’ Chinese business. He graduated in civil and international law at University of Utrecht. He was a trainee at the European Commission in Brussels, Directorate General Internal market. He has practised law in major Dutch law firms.
Bart is member of the Dutch and Amsterdam Bar Association, part of the Appointment Board and listed arbitrator of the Chinese European Arbitration Centre in Hamburg (CEAC), active member of the Inter Pacific Bar Association (IPBA), immediate past president of the China Table of the leading Dutch business club IGC in Amsterdam, former Board member of the Netherlands Hong Kong Society and in the Advisory Board member of the Dutch Chinese Chamber of Commerce.
Bart is a frequent speaker in legal and business fora and has lectured at University of Utrecht, Donghua University Shanghai, Neyenrode Business University in Breukelen and Erasmus University Rotterdam. Bart is fluent in Dutch and English, conversant in French and German.
